As part of our continuing assessment of the systems and services, we have decided that it is time to de-commission alpha.jabservers.co.uk.
One of our first servers, it has long been succeeded by our co-location facilities and the Dell servers we have used for the last two years. Better tailored, they offer our customers a faster base on which to operate their site and as well as added protection and improved features.
Therefore, starting from October 15th (week Monday), we're going to begin the process of moving customers from alpha.jabservers.co.uk to gamma.jabservers.co.uk.
This will be done using the Plesk Migration Manager, allowing us to completely port a whole site over in one go, preserving all files and settings (such as e-mails and passwords).
More information about the Plesk Migration Manager, the process in general, as well as some of the main issues that can crop up as part of the migration are covered in the following Knowledgebase article:
The process will be done in stages, with customers being transferred in small groups at a time, allowing us to closely monitor all sites as they're being transferred.
If any customer on the server would like to be transferred on a specific day (including before the date above), please let us know and we'll accommodate your request.
If we do not hear anything from customers on those servers, we will assign you a date on which the transfer will take place, and inform you of this date at least a week before the transfer will take place.
This will allow you to take preparations as required before we being the process.
If you have any questions regarding this change, or would like to discuss this with a member of our Support Team (including discussing the date of the transfer), please contact us.
