Decommissioning of mxlinux.com

Decommissioning of mxlinux.com

by Jonathan Wright (00:02 Feb 1st, 2010)

As part of our continuing assessment of our systems & services, we have decided to decommission the server mxlinux.com.

mxlinux.com is the last server that was part of the transfer from Matrix Internet and will now be succeeded by a better, tailored, faster and more up-to-date replacement.

Therefore, starting at 11.50pm on Saturday, February 20th, we're going to begin the process of moving these customers onto a brand new server; zeta.jabservers.co.uk.

This will be done using the Plesk Migration Manager, allowing us to port all sites over complete, preserving all files and settings (such as e-mails and passwords).

More information about the Plesk Migration Manager, the process in general, as well as some of the main issues that can crop up as part of a migration are covered in the following Knowledgebase article:

The process will be done in one go, allowing us to closely monitor all sites as they're being transferred. If any customer on the server would like to be transferred on a specific day (including before the date above), please let us know and we will do our best to accommodate your
request.

One of the main issues that customers should be aware of with this migration is that there will be major updates to primary packages (primarily PHP 5 and MySQL 5). We recommend that you look into the software you are currently using and ensure that they are compatible with this change.

If you have any questions regarding this migration (including the date of the transfer), or you would like to discuss any other matter with us, please
Submit a Ticket to our Support Team.
