This is a manual provided by SWsoft for Plesk 8.0.x, covering using the Backup and Restore utilities available via the command-line. They help you to create a back up your domain and restore the backup in the event of data loss or corruption.

We also have a wide range of topics in our Knowledgebase which can provide you with more specific information. If you are having any problems, browse it first to see if the question has already been answered.

The two command-line applications are:

  • psadump
This utility is used for backing up the configuration information and data by storing it in a dump file.
  • psarestore
This utility is used for restoring the backed up configuration information and data at the server from the dump-file.

Executing a psadump is an easy and effective way of backing up your information and site structure. This documentation is geared at command line backup and you will need SSH enabled in order to accomplish this.

Plesk also has an interface via the Control Panel. Please download the Client Guide for information on how to create a backup from your Plesk account.

Note: Some options within this documentation can only be run at root level. If you would like to discuss these options then please Submit a Ticket to our Support Team.

Also, psarestore can only restore to the same version of Plesk. If you are intending to restore to an alternative version of Plesk this documentation is NOT suitable. Please contact Submit a Ticket to discuss this.
